- This is an empty housing that is the gear housing used on only a OMC Stringer Sterndrive upper units from 1973-1974 (low-profile) I.E. 100hp / 120hp / 140hp / 165hp (inline-engines)
- The V8 engines from this time period were using the High-Profile drive which used a housing that accommodated the high-profile bearing carrier
- Actual Stamped / Cast part number on this is 980108
- 1975-1985 Stringer upper housings had the provisions for bolt-on the steering worm retainer cover (which this one does not, look at the photos from the rear) so do not use it to replace a newer style (1975-1985) housing.
