MerCruiser 46734A1 Gimbal Bell Housing Pre-Alpha One 1969-1971 Early W/O Senders
IF YOUR GIMBAL HOUSING HAS TRIM SENDERS THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT BELL HOUSING
Part Numbers:
-
Bell Housing Assembly: 46734A1 (stamped 46734) Replaced by 68417A1
- It will generally be the best practice to try and match the number stamped in your current bell housing.
- There is some minor but heavy pitting by the water inlet passage. I have looked very closely at this and with a new o-ring, there should not be any issue with this area sealing properly.
-
This is for MerCruiser applications 1969-1971ish (usually used on applications up until serial number 3443920 & below) as it is the early style that has a few unique features and is the first style without the lever on the side of it.
- ****Uses the EARLY non-grooved bellows assembly (MerCruiser 36223A1)****
-
For gimbal rings that DO NOT have trim senders covering the pivot pins...
- The pivot pins used with this type of bell housing were steel dowels held in by nails rather than having threaded ends that screwed in.
- Also Note... This has been updated (re-tapped) to accept the newer standard style of shift cable with REAR/AFT installation into the bell housing assembly (19543A4) You may have to swap out some components on the reverse lock system to accept this newer type of cable.
Compatibility
- This was used from 1969-1971ish (probably only the earlier part of that timespan)
- Again, if your Gimbal Housing has trim senders.. this is not the right one.
